How Ridiculous!

I came across this video on Facebook. It really is a great example of The Hero. If you have seen us in your school you would have heard us talk about this concept of a hero; someone effecting the life of someone else for the better. This video is an example of young people, just like you, making a difference in the world.

I remember when I was about 15, I was sitting in my room and I was depressed, upset and angry for no real reason. A few things had set me off; parents, girls and school but nothing major. I remember sitting there, on my bed, head in my hands, music blaring, just wishing I could start everything all over again. A fresh start. Scrap everything and start new.

Have you ever felt weighed down? Like your soul is heavy with regrets or there is a weight on your shoulders you can’t get rid of?

When I got my driver’s license and I was on my P’s I was involved in a serious car accident. It was entirely my fault and I had weighing on my conscience the possibility that I may have killed someone. The weight on your shoulders may not be guilt but mistakes, shame, disappointment in who you are, what you’ve done or even other people’s expectations.

I’m not sure what Easter means to you but it quite often takes on this meaning -

Easter: Chocolate. Eggs. Presents. Hot cross buns. Long weekend. 

As we dig deeper into the meaning of Easter we find a lot more than empty calories and rotting teeth. The truth is it feels like each year we need to dig deeper and deeper and peel back the layers to get to the truth.

We find Jesus in a place of despair. He’s just finished a meal with his closest friends and now he is alone in a forest where the shadows of the trees are as dark as his sorrow. Emptiness is overtaking his soul and the torment of betrayal, abandonment and pain is weeping from his body.
