If you were a superhero what would you power be?
Those shape shifters are pretty sweet. Say good bye to those identity issues! Ha!
Last book read?
I actually have a couple on the go. The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Martin Luther King’s Autobiography – what a fascinating guy, talk about a Hero!!
I just finished a book by a guy called Brian Mclaren called ‘Everything Must Change’, a pretty intense book that looks into what Jesus has to say about the global crises we are faced with today. How someone who lived so many years ago is still relevant to issues in today’s day and age.
Do you have a personal hero?
My personal Hero is the underdog of a group, the one who is the quiet achiever. Someone who will go against the flow, who has the guts to stand up for something – no matter how trivial or epic. Someone who has a belief and that guides their steps rather than fitting into the mould of society or media or culture. Anyone who fights for truth, justice and equality, they are my personal Hero!
So what’s all this Hero gear about?
I remember when I was a kid I used to dress up as Superman. I’d chuck on the blue tracksuit top and pants, red socks and red jocks! I’d connect a cape and ‘fly’ around the house, saving people, bashing the baddies and just being super!
As I reflect on this it makes me wonder about the concept of The Hero. We all grow up with Super Hero movies, TV shows and comics. Is it through being surrounded by this that we have a personal desire to be a Hero? Or is it through a selfish desire to be noticed that we desire heroismor is it possible that this craving to make a difference has been strategically placed deep within our soul?
The life of Jesus has deeply affected me. As I read through the Bible and see how Jesus loved people, how He gave people hope and changed their lives it shows me that He lived a life of Heroic proportion. Jesus is a True Hero.
I believe that if you make the decision to look into Jesus and find out about how He changed peoples’ lives something will ignite in your soul. A passion for something more, a dissatisfaction with a life of no meaning. You have been created by a God who passionately loves you and I know you have been created to make a difference in this world. You have the capacity to be a true Hero; to change the life of another for the better!
